Fisher Towers from the top of the 'Top of The World Trail', Castle Valley, So.Utah
..................................................1/7/09 - Just got thru putting the finishing touches on a mix with my friend, percussionist Larry
                          Mahlis
(photo to left). Larry and I met yrs ago in college @ Weber Univ. and had jammed together a
few times...just enough to find that we meshed pretty good together. But life goes on and so comes
changes... and I still live here in Ogden and Larry in Seattle,Wash. So thanks to the internet, Larry
and I have collaborated on an original tune written by me, for guitar. He has been kind enough to
lay down a Clay Pot track. I have had the track for well over 6 months and because of the
difference in recordings or inexperience on my part in mixing, I couldn't get our tracks synched.
Being bored here this winter with tons of snow, I finally got back to the mixing and to my surprise and persistence, I
finally found it. The song is from my 3rd release
'Too Little Time' and is called 'Two The Sea'. Chk it out on the
player here. I also have this song presented to a didge player living in Italy for his add. Chk for that mix as it becomes
available.
Well, it looks I am planning another re-d, I have decided (artists' prerogative) to revisit another of my tunes from the 1st cd., 'The Hale Bop'.

Now this song was totally inspired by the passing of the Hale-Bopp comet back in 1997. I, along with a group of friends, were camped, for 6
nights, in Black Dragon Canyon, San Rafael Swell, So. Utah. Out in the middle of nowhere. No city lights and other than our own fire, no
manmade lights to be seen ... the black desert sky, a backdrop of millions of stars shining brightly and the Hale-Bopp comet. It was inspiring to
say the least. So at that time I wrote this song ... 'The Hale Bop'. I did not record it for the first time until 2002. My good friend and mtn
biking buddy, Mark Hafterson, played the didg on that first recording.

But I was never satisfied with that version. Mark and I have lost contact somewhat (he's into kayaking and doesn't play didg much anymore). I
have always loved this song... so I wanted to come back and do it some justice.

Looks like 'The Hale Bop' will be included on my 4th cd release 'Fore For Four' as a remix. Hopefully to add in a didjeridu part at a later date.

You can listen to the original tune posted in the
'Music' section of my pages...

A while back I got a care pkg from my good friend and picking buddy
Richard 'BoJet' Crampton from Maine. Now Bojet had a great affect on the
picking that I now do. He taught me quite a bit about odd tunings & opened
my hands to 5-finger style. I had to learn with 5 fingers to do what he could
with only his little finger and thumb...strange I know but just listen to what
he actually does. Amazing is a word that comes to mind. He's the main
administrator and teacher at a small private school in a small town in Maine.
But he still plays and these are a couple of his great tunes for you to check
out. If you are interested in his music ... let us know and we'll put you in
touch. NICE!! Thanks Crampton!! Peace ... Kritter

Box Elder Burl Banjo by REA
While messing around and doing a little
turning in my shop about a month or two
ago...I ran across this piece of Box Elder
burl that I'd had sitting around for a
spell (10 yrs). I got inspired or bored and
tied into that burl with a circular saw and
sawzall and then the lathe and this piece
of music was the outcome. The grain is
outstanding and it sounds pretty good too!
